A music venue in the heart of New Orleans, Impromptu engages with its landscape the way its music engages with listeners. Spontaneous, forever changing, adaptable.
Floating above a landscape designed to allow the Mississippi River, Impromptu seeks to return New Orleans waterfront into something it has lost, a wetland. This concert hall is divided into different modules, dividing the programatic needs of a traditional concert hall and connecting them with a curvilinear glass enclosure. The concert hall becomes the vantage point from which visitors can experience music and culture in a completely new environment.
